  • Why are you looking to rehome this pet?
  • We are looking for a loving, experienced home for our beautiful 2-year-old male Cocker Spaniel, Oakley. He is a black and tan dog with a gorgeous coat, and we’ve had him since he was a puppy. Oakley is a very affectionate and loving dog who enjoys attention, cuddles, and being close to his people. Once he builds trust, he forms strong bonds and has a playful, fun personality—he especially loves tug of war and playing with his ball or favourite teddy. He is naturally a nervous and anxious dog, particularly around new people and environments, but he does warm up with time, patience, and consistency. Because of this, he would suit a calm household and a quieter lifestyle—ideally somewhere more rural or with access to green, peaceful spaces, as he really enjoys his walks in quieter areas. Oakley has a sensitive stomach, so he is on a specific diet which manages this very well. In recent months, Oakley has developed some behavioural challenges. He can be reactive in certain situations and has shown occasional snapping behaviour, particularly when being stopped from doing something he wants to do (for example, being asked to get off the sofa). With understanding of his triggers and the right management, these situations can usually be avoided. Because of this, Oakley will need an experienced and confident dog owner who understands reactive dogs and is willing to continue working on his training and confidence. We believe he would really benefit from ongoing professional training to help him become more settled and sociable. He would be best suited to an adult-only home or a household with older children, as he can be wary of younger children due to noise and sudden movements. He tends to warm up more quickly to females and currently lives with a couple. He does not thrive in busy or high-energy environments. Oakley can get along with other dogs, particularly smaller ones, though he can be unsure of larger dogs at first. Like with people, he just needs time to feel comfortable. On walks, he can pull on the lead and is particularly reactive to bicycles. At home, he is generally well-behaved, toilet trained, and can be left during the working day without issues. He does get anxious with grooming, especially around his ears and paws, although he has behaved well at professional groomers. This decision has not been made lightly, but due to recent challenges and full-time work commitments, we feel Oakley would thrive in a home better suited to his needs. We are committed to finding him the right home where he can feel secure, understood, and continue to grow in confidence.

FurDopt Safety Advice: You MUST read our buyer's checklist before contacting the advertiser.

Buyer's checklist to avoid scams!

Keep all communication on Furdopt.com – Avoid moving to external platforms where scams are common.
Never send a deposit unless you have viewed the pet in person – Scammers often ask for upfront payments and disappear.
Don’t share your ID or personal details – Protect yourself from identity theft and fraud.
Beware of phishing scams – Avoid clicking on suspicious links or emails asking for login details.
Be responsible, do your own research – Verify the seller, their background, and the pet’s history.
Ask lots of questions – A genuine seller will provide health records, vaccination details, and pet history.
Meet in a safe place – Always visit the seller’s premises to see the pet in a secure environment.
Check for warning signs – Unusually low prices, urgency, or reluctance to meet in person are red flags.
Request vet records and microchip details – Ensure the pet is healthy and legally registered.
Avoid sellers who refuse video calls or in-person meetings – Scammers often hide behind fake listings.
Trust your instincts – If something feels off, walk away and report suspicious listings.
