  • Why are you looking to rehome this pet?
  • Due to a change in circumstances we are looking at rehoming our dog Maisie. 🐶 Welsh Foxhound x New Zealand Huntaway ⚧️ Female 📆 3 Years Old (Born March 2022) 📟Microchipped 💉Fully Vaccinated (Full health Check at Vet and last booster May25) 📍Located near to Loughborough, East Midlands 🧒🏻Grown up around young children. We have had Maisie since a puppy, she has grown up alongside our older 7 years old NZHxCollie Female dog Roxy. She’s always been heavily food orientated, which for training was great, however she is very brazen at stealing food. She will be opportunistic in stealing food from around the home, from our children. Most recently she has shown food dominance behaviours towards our older dog, where she’s shown aggression on three occasions. The most recent was during a stay sharing kennels with our older dog - she attacked and pinned her to the floor resulting in injury to Roxy. Unfortunately due to personal/family challenges we are unable to offer our full support in addressing Maisies behaviour. This along with her recent aggression towards our older dog has resulted in some anxieties in the household - both our older dog and children. After taking long, hard, careful and emotional thought we feel it is in everyone’s best interests, particularly Maisies that she is rehomed with someone who is able to offer her the full attention and support she needs to correct her behavioural issues.

Description

Maisie is a mixed breed dog….Welsh foxhound (paternal) crossed with a New Zealand Huntaway (maternal). Black/Tan/whiteish grey in colour with a wire like coat/fur. Very much like a foxhound with some NZH traits too. She’s an energetic but rather ditsy dog who is a master escape artist! Very food driven and always has her nose to the ground sniffing. This is where her clumsiness comes into effect as she loses all sense of special awareness and can easily bump Into you and get under your feet on walks! She’s a loving dog and loves a bit of fuss but can be just as comfortable curling up beside you on the floor while you sit on the sofa with a drink. Very sociable with dogs generally and has got one well with our older dog having grown up with her - just the issue around food dominance. She’s just too much for us to handle at the moment with our personal issues within the family and needs someone dedicated to helping her be better behaved.

Buyer's checklist to avoid scams!

Keep all communication on Furdopt.com – Avoid moving to external platforms where scams are common.
Never send a deposit unless you have viewed the pet in person – Scammers often ask for upfront payments and disappear.
Don’t share your ID or personal details – Protect yourself from identity theft and fraud.
Beware of phishing scams – Avoid clicking on suspicious links or emails asking for login details.
Be responsible, do your own research – Verify the seller, their background, and the pet’s history.
Ask lots of questions – A genuine seller will provide health records, vaccination details, and pet history.
Meet in a safe place – Always visit the seller’s premises to see the pet in a secure environment.
Check for warning signs – Unusually low prices, urgency, or reluctance to meet in person are red flags.
Request vet records and microchip details – Ensure the pet is healthy and legally registered.
Avoid sellers who refuse video calls or in-person meetings – Scammers often hide behind fake listings.
Trust your instincts – If something feels off, walk away and report suspicious listings.
